When we make changes to the tax tables, we release a new copy of the file, ADPRTXTB.DAT. This file resides in the SYS (AFILES) directory. It contains master copies of tables for all states that have an income tax and tables for the Federal calculations. Payroll program 58, Transfer Tax Tables, accesses this file and provides a way to copy tables into your data set, where you can access them through Payroll program 2, Deduction Tables.

Because this is a data file, changes to it do not require a ‘patch’ so it is updated as needed. Therefore, the file on the website may—and often is—more current than the file shipped with current product. So when you order new product or a replacement CD, you should also check the Tax Tables page to see if there is a more current version of tax tables available. If there is, install the CD to get the current software, then load the more current tax table file from the website.
