Roundtable Software's first native Windows-based product is released this week. The new product is the RTS-Advantage Data Export Tool, and it gives you the ability to export data from your accounting software directly into Microsoft Access ©, Microsoft Excel ©, Dbase and all compatible database and spreadsheet programs.

In addition to database export, the new software also allows you to quickly and easily export to various ASCII text formats, including Excel CSV format, tab delimited, comma-delimited and fixed-length.

Here are a few more tips for running Rountable Software's Advantage Accounting System on Windows XP:

Printing to network printers: According to Microsoft, you need to issue a NET USE command to print to remote printers from XP workstations under DOS. Problems running Roundtable Software's Advantage Accounting System full screen: Under the Properties option choose the Layout tab. Here you will see a box that defines the Screen Buffer Size and the Window Size. Set both of them to a Width of 80 and a Height of 25, and then click Apply.

If you did not find the Layout tab under Properties: You have a PIF-based icon, a holdover from previous versions of Windows. If you know how to make a shortcut, go ahead and make a new shortcut for RTS-Advantage and then, if needed, follow the above instructions.

If you do not know how to make a new shortcut and need to modify your old one to set the proper screen height, double-click the icon to launch RTS-Advantage. If it doesn't load in a window (if it's full screen without the colored Windows title bar along the top), press Alt-Enter to change the display into a window. Once RTS-Advantage is displayed in a window (not full screen) you can right-click in the title bar at the top of the window, select the Properties option, and then it will have the Layout tab. Change the width and height as discussed above and click OK. In the Apply Properties box, click the radio button to "Save properties for future windows with same title" and click OK.
