How To Use The DeltaDOS Patch Installer

The DeltaDOS Patch Installer can be downloaded from this site or you can copy it from the RTSUtils directory of your version 4 CD of the Roundtable Software Advantage Accounting System. Whether downloaded or copied from the CD, put the DeltaDOS.EXE file in your PROGS directory.

As you download futre patches, place the DPF (Delta Patch File) in the same directory (the PROGS directory).

Applying a patch is easy. After decompressing the ZIP file you downloaded, you'll have a file ending with the extension DPF (for Delta Patch File). This DPF file is the file the DeltaDOS program will use to install your patch.

To have DeltaDOS install the patch, you type:

 DELTADOS  <patch file name>

The program will find the correct directory in which to install the patch by checking your AUSER, APROGS and AFILES environment variables. If you do not have these set in a regular DOS session, just add the correct path to the command line. For example, to load patch 33,

DELTADOS PATCH33  (if environment variables set)

 or

DELTADOS PATCH33 F:\ADV\PROGS  (if environment variables are NOT set)

If the program determines that the patch can be installed it will tell you which files were updated. If any of your files are not on the correct versions for the patch to be installed the program will tell you which file(s) are incorrect. You will need to load previous patches to update your system before you can successfully load the current patch.

How To Install Patch 36
This patch is available in one of two forms: either download the PATCH36.ZIP file which contains the program patch as well as the System and Data files, or separately download the files 36PROGS.ZIP, 36SYS,ZIP and 36DATA.ZIP. In either case, these instructions can be followed for loading the patch after downloading the file(s).
The PATCH36.ZIP contains the following files:
PATCH36.DPF
The patch file used to update the program files; copy it to the APROGS directory and install with DeltaDOS.
Copy this file to your SYS directory (the AFILES directory) and decompress it, allowing it to overwrite existing files.
Copy this file to your DATA directory (the AUSER directory) and decompress it, allowing it to overwrite existing files.
If you chose to download the ZIP files for each directory separately, copy the 36PROGS.ZIP file to the APROGS directory, decompress it into the PATCH36.DPF file, then use the DeltaDOS program to install the patch.
